Festive Summer Hairstyles

Getting revved up for this weekend’s Memorial Day BBQs, the official permit of white jeans and lazy pool days? You also need to start planning your summer hairstyles. Steal one of these gorgeous stars’ styles to look rockin’!

Full-Bodied Beach Waves

Julianne Hough: Julianne’s flowing locks are the perfect way to make a casual style (beach waves) more glamorous (by adding volume).

Get the look:

If your hair is straight: Flip your head and blow dry. Spray flipped, dried hair with hairspray to hold the volume. Flip back and make a side part. Wrap sections of the top half of your hair around a large curling iron. Mist with wave-enhancing spray.

If your hair is wavy or curly: Relax your curls with leave-in conditioner. Point blow dry down to smooth your roots and twirl sections of hair around your finger to create loose spirals. (Tip: blow dry on medium or low heat to avoid frizz). Finish with sea salt spray to add texture.

Wavy Side-Pony

Brittany Snow: If the humidity is making your hair grow larger by the minute, pull it back in a posh side pony.

Get the look:

See above for how to create waves, then flat iron your bangs and side strands. Pull your hair halfback and tease the top. Hold in place with crisscrossed bobby pins or a pretty clip. (Tip: We love this look with face-framing teardrop earrings like Brittany’s.)

Braided Headband

Lauren Conrad: If can’t choose between a preppy Blair Waldorf headband or boho mini-braids, combine them!

Get the look:

Take a two-inch section of hair near your ear and start braiding across your forehead. Add small chunks from your hairline as you go. Fasten with a clear rubber band under your other ear, then secure to the braid your head with bobby pins and cover it with loose strands.

Sleek Super-Shiny Strands

Rachel Bilson: Look ultra sultry on a date night by going with pin straight locks.

Get the look:

Run a dime size amount of straightening balm through your damp hair. Blow your dry hair in sections using a wide-tooth comb to straighten it. Then run the comb through your dried locks, following it with a flat iron. Finish with shine spray.

Rambo Headscarf

Mischa Barton: For a style that will take you from a dip in the ocean to happy hour, use a funky scarf to tame windswept tresses.

Get the look:

Roll up your favorite scarf—ours is True Birds’ Budding Mango scarf. Tie it around your forehead. Tease the hair at your crown. (Tip: smudge eye-liner to make your eyes pop like Mischa’s).

Now, what style do you think you're gonna try?!
